I have been obsessed with making pom poms ever since I bought THIS set of pom pom makers this past month! Here is a quick guide on how to make your very own pom pom hoop!

First things first, gather all the supplies!

You will need:

Next, you want to prep your backing and hoop! To get a circle for the backing to finish the piece, I suggest tracing around the outside of the inner most hoop piece ( I like to use these water soluble pencils). Cut it out and leave it for the end of the project.

Then you will cut your fabric and fit it into the hoop, leaving a 1/2 inch around the edge.

Now, your ready to make some pom poms!

I like to vary the sizes and colors and organically fill them into a circle. I personally, like to leave an edge to see the fabric behind, but you can totally fill it out into the edge. Fill free to just loosely set the pom poms into place until you like the arrangement.

To make the pom poms, pull the U shaped sides out from the middle and begin wrapping it in the yarn. Once the U is wrapped close it to the center and cut the yarn. Repeat in the other side. Cut along the center middle to create the pom pom. Cut a sizable length of yarn and circle around the center to tie pieces together. Pull maker apart and now you have a pom pom!

Once you have all the pom poms made and arranged how you like. Tact them to the hoop with the needle and thread. I like to use thread colors similar to the pom so it can blend in. I suggest arranging the pom poms on the hoop first and then move them to the side in the same arrangement to sew them on.

The only thing left now is to either sew or glue the felt backing on. If sewing use a blanket or whip stitch to attach. If using superglue, cut fabric as close to the hoop edge as possible and then glue right on!

Hope y'all enjoy making these pom pom hoops as much as I do! Check out all the versions of this I have made HERE. You can also find a quick video of this process HERE.
