1. MIX FABRICS

2. ADD YARN
This is an amazing way to give depth to a piece or fill in large areas. Below I used yarn to create the clouds. The great thing about yarn is that it come sin so many colors and textures itself, you can you use it over and over again and still have a different result.
3. CHANGE UP STITCH DIRECTIONS
The easiest and simplest way to accomplish texture, simply change your stitch direction. For example, below the same stitch is used to fill in the moon however, changing directions can give it that texture feel without having to add a new medium.

4. PAINT YOUR FABRIC
I highly recommend either watercolor or acrylic when painting on your fabrics. Each can give its own effect. Below I even added some baking soda to the acrylic to give the paint even more texture!

5. BEADING
Beading can add texture in so many ways, depending on the size and texture of the bead itself. Space them far apart or close together. They can add so much texture and depth or just a nice accent to a piece. Below you can see the beading spaced together with varying bead type and size as well as beads intermixed between stitches.
