Unfortunately crafting is not always the most green friendly and embroidery is no exception. However, there are many ways to repurpose all the clippings, thread ends and felt backings! So, here are few ways I like to reuse, reduce and recycle!

Thread Ends

If you have ever picked up a needle and thread you will know that in order to tie the stitch off you need a little room for your needle. That leads to having thread length you have to snip off! So what to do with all those thread ends.

I personally, use mine to create "potion bottles." I printed out potion bottle tags, and attached using modge podge. Then fill with the thread ends! I like to color coordinate mine.

Here are a few bottles options and a link to the labels I used HERE.

Fabric Scraps

When you cut fabric for embroidery hoops, you almost always have some scrap left over. I like to use my fabric scraps as a "signature". I stamp Bewitched Stitch Co onto the fabric and then sew it onto the backing of every hoop I create. Just like an artist signs the canvas! Eventually, if the fabric scraps continue to grow, I think they would be perfect to stuff a pillow with as well.

Another tip, this stamp comes in so handy for "branding" packaging. I like to stamp tissue and thank you cards. It is super versatile.

Felt Scraps

I like to use felt as a way to back my hoops, but with that you end up cutting a lot of circles out of squares and are left with a lot of scraps. There are few ways to use your felt leftovers. With the smaller pieces that you can no longer cut more circles out of, you can create needle minders. The little felt pieces are perfect for making sure those needles do not get lost. Another use for the larger pieces, but still not big enough for a hoop back you can use in hoop projects. Below you can see the different ways I have reused felt in my embroidery pieces.

As you can see above, the felt scrap makes a perfect needle minder! You can shop the kit HERE.

I hope you enjoyed and learned some new ways to get creative with your embroidery scraps!
